The Atlanta Braves have acquired catcher Vaughn Grissom and three other minor league players from the San Diego Padres in exchange for outfielder Cameron Maybin. Grissom, a 25-year-old right-handed hitter, was the Padres' fourth-round pick in the 2017 MLB Draft. He has spent the last two seasons in the Padres' minor league system, hitting .258 with 11 home runs and 57 RBIs in 2019. The other three players acquired by the Braves are infielder Kelvin Melean, right-hander Luis Patiño, and left-hander Omar Cruz. Melean is a 22-year-old infielder who hit .269 with four home runs and 28 RBIs in 2019. Patiño is a 20-year-old right-hander who posted a 3.90 ERA in 24 starts last season. Cruz is a 21-year-old left-hander who had a 4.50 ERA in 27 appearances in 2019. This move gives the Braves a young, talented catcher to add to their roster and provides them with some depth in the minor leagues.
